Thirteen billion plastic bags are given away each year in the UK alone. They litter and kill 100.000 birds, seals, turtles and even whales every year. We use them on average for just 12minutes, but they will last for between 40 and 1000 years...It is rapidly entering the food chain, and it's already in the air we breathe. So it about time we did something about this growing problem.
To do their part, some cities and towns are trying to go plastic bag free. Following an overwhelming majority vote in favour of the motion, Brighton & Hove Councillors have launched an official bid to ban plastic bags from the city.

We want to do our bit, and help you do yours, and make it fun!
So you can now take part in one of our tote bag making workshops.
Choose from a variety of reclaimed fabrics, and make a shopper while learning the basics on the sewing machine. Write a slogan with fabric paints, cut out iron-on shapes, and embellish with buttons and other trinkets. Once you got your own design bag, there is no excuse to use any plastic ones!!
