Collaborating with Spectral Arts, we are going to run four one day workshops where the students can explore and develop their skills and knowledge in using recycled materials to create wearable garments. We will be working with four schools from Brighton and Hove. Each to be given a design brief, and their own colour fabric and materials to create spring, summer, autumn, winter inspired costumes. Ten students will be chosen from each school for the catwalk show on the 29th of june at the Sallis Benney Theatre.The show is being organised as part of the Big Recycle, a national campaign to encourage people to recycle, supported by local authorities all over the country. The event is being sponsored by Brighton and Hove City Council’s sustainability team. Thanks to this sponsorship, Spectral Arts has obtained Awards for All funding to organise a similar, bigger project next year.
