Super Onesies

By now I would say I am a pretty confident pattern cutter. But designing a one-piece and making it look flattering is quite a challenge. I wanted a pattern that was powerful but not too boxy and 80’s, comfortable but also stylish.  And as I was planning to reuse kids bedspreads with this pattern it was going to have that cotton stiffness to give it shape. Pleats at the front, and of course pockets!

Modelled by the hot Ra.

More Patchwork Upholstery!

Patchwork Armchairs.

Well the first two armchairs I upholstered found homes pretty quickly, so I made another one!

Using different colour fabrics of course. Yes, they can be made to order. Just get in touch.

Hello Sailor Shorts!

High Waisted Shorts.

I wanted to make a flattering pair of high waisted shorts. A pattern that would work with various prints and colours. The buttons are what makes it I think!

Modeled by the beautiful Leah and Lottie, plus myself.

Can be made to order to your specific measurements in desired fabric/colour.

Upholstery Project No.1

Patchwork Tub Chair.

I finally got around to reupholster some armchairs. Hurrah!!

I chose these tub chairs as they are probably one of the easiest shapes to do if you are a novice like me. I used a variety of vintage curtain fabrics like brocades and velvets.

Pretty happy with the outcome I have to say.

More to come. Watch this space!

Sustainable Feather Accessories

Hair Clips.

Even though feathers are natural and completely biodegradable they aren’t always ethical. Some birds, like the peacock are sometimes bred just for their feathers and in some places plucked alive.  Chickens/cockerel or game feathers tends to be a side product of the meat industry. Which is not very ethical either, but still a waste product. So always worth taking into consideration where your feathers come from. Check out Feathered Fantasy for example. Stylish and sustainably sourced.

This beautiful old feather duster made from cockerel feathers came my way through Shabitat. All the feathers were hand threaded one by one and then rolled around a wooden stick to create the duster.

I unraveled the feather thread and cut off small lengths, glued them onto alligator clips and added vintage buttons. Simple yet effective.
